Bridging the Gap Between Heritage and Healing

In Toronto’s diverse community, many face the unique pressure of navigating Western life while honoring traditional family values. We provide a space where you don't have to explain your culture, you just have to be yourself. From the nuances of filial piety to the challenges of immigrant identity, we offer support in 廣東話 (Cantonese), 普通话 (Mandarin), and English that truly hits home.

  • "I want to thank Jenny for her professionalism and patience. I used to feel so overwhelmed and angry during the 'homework wars' every night, feeling like I was failing as a parent. After a few sessions at A.R.E., she helped me navigate the emotions behind the conflict. Now, I have the tools to help my child and myself, stay calm and connected even on the hard days."

  • "I am so grateful for the professional guidance we received. My partner and I used to get stuck in the same circular arguments for days, feeling completely disconnected and lonely in our own home. Our therapist helped us navigate those patterns and find our way back to each other. We finally have the communication skills to handle things ourselves."

  • “A huge thank you to my therapist at A.R.E. Psychotherapy. I used to walk into work feeling constant dread, always worried about making a mistake or 'losing face.' They helped me navigate those deep-seated anxieties and taught me how to advocate for my own needs. I finally feel like I’m back in the driver’s seat of my own life.”

Therapy & Counselling

  • Services provided by clinicians at A.R.E. Psychotherapy are typically NOT covered by OHIP.

  • Services by Registered Psychotherapists are usually eligible for reimbursement through various private extended health insurance plans or workplace benefits. Please consult your individual healthcare insurance plan to ascertain the extent of coverage available.

It’s important to note that fees paid without insurance coverage may qualify for tax deductions as medical expenses.

  • The duration of psychotherapy effectiveness can vary significantly from person to person. Research suggests that the optimal course of psychotherapy services typically falls within the range of 4 to 26 sessions. However, please keep in mind that the timeline of your therapy will be tailored to your unique needs and progress. Your therapist will work closely with you with different therapeutic approaches to determine the most suitable duration for your therapeutic journey.

  • By default, our appointments are scheduled for 60 minutes. In certain situations, you and your therapist may consider longer counselling sessions when it can be more beneficial, and this option can be discussed during your appointments.

  • Our fees are structured with the consideration of guidelines established by the Ontario Psychological Association and our operating cost. It’s important to note that many extended health insurance plans offer coverage for all or a portion of the fees associated with psychotherapy services. Additionally, the Canada Revenue Agency recognizes that unreimbursed expenses paid to a registered psychotherapist in Ontario can be claimed as eligible medical expenses on your income tax return. This can help provide financial support and flexibility for your mental health care.

  • Yes, we are a registered IFHP provider. We accept patients covered under the Interim Federal Health Program for all eligible services.

Starting May 1, 2026, the federal government is introducing a co-payment for all supplemental health benefits. You will pay 30% of the total cost directly to the clinic at the time of your appointment. The remaining balance (70%) will continue to be billed directly to the IFHP by our clinic.

Please present your valid IFHP eligibility document to us when you arrive so we can accurately calculate your 30% co-payment.
